Most folks start well. They begin a new job. Start a novel. Join the gym.
But meaningful success never happens at the starting line. It’s easy to look good before the race begins. Finishing well is the rare talent.
When you hear the topic of finishing well, don’t let your thoughts jump to some future point – the last day of your job or the end of life. Stay in the now.
The reality is you cross a finish line each day when you lay your head on your pillow. Scripture tells us not to let the sun go down on our anger. In other words, don’t leave the issues of the day undone. Finish well what is before you today. The conversation. The story. The crisis. The repentance.
Finishing well isn’t about exiting well. It’s about how you finish the day you are in right now. Do that well and your legacy will take care of itself.
